My runway at FTIMDC

Finally the FTIMDC beading competition 2010 has ended yesterday.

This year, contestants have to beads 'Kebaya Nyonya' as creatively and beautifully as they could. Only 21 finalists was chosen and their design was showcase on the runway.

As for me, i was invited by FTIMDC to showcase my collections. Too bad i only managed to send 1 kebaya nyonya only due ti time constraint. It was a memorable moment for me as i walked on the runway with my models and designs :). Hopefully i can show more collections in the year ahead.

Here some pics of my new design. there will be photo shooting soon, hopefully i can show clearer pics of this Kebaya.

Finally, i would like to congratulates those who have won this year FTIMDC competition. :)

Personally i think, Pn Rozita a.k.a my sifoo wore the most beautiful kebaya last nite, i really love it.

Class is scheduled every weekend, highlighted in pink (Sunday and Saturday).

Venue: Good year Court 1, USJ 6/1.

Time: 10 am - 5 pm

Fees: RM120

Participant: 5 students per-class

Tea and light meal will be provided.

Since this class is based on the demands of the students, there will be changes of schedule but i will try to make the class at least once in every week.

The FTIMDC Embroidery Designing Techniques book launching ceremony was held yesterday at KL Tower revolving restaurant. It was blissful day for me as i’m among the selected person to attend the ceremony. Attendees was from the FTIMDC embroidery competition participants and FTMDC staffs.

Pn. Rosita Jaafar start the ceremony by giving a welcome and appreciations speech to the winners and those who participates in the competition. Then each of the participant received goodies from her which are the new book and our framed design picture. It was lovely and i really love it. The best part for us was, our design are published in the new book. Something i never dream off before :)

So i would like to personally thank FTIMDC especially Pn. Rosita Jaafar for giving me this opportunity and had my design in her book. Thank you. Below are some of the pictures taken yesterday.

Pertandingan Piala Sulaman Manik Kristal FTIMde 2009

FTIMDC 2009

Alhamdulillah, my effort and hard works for 1 month has been answered last night in a great event of Pertandingan Piala Sulaman Manik Kristal FTIMde 2009 (Crystal FTMde Embroidery Beads 2009 Competition).

This is the first competition ever held for beaders to show their embroidery beading creativities and skills in Malaysia. Thai Silk has been chosen as the theme for this competition where beautiful, glamorous, creatives and good beading skills is the key to win the title. 23 participant has shown their beautiful art works in their own styles and skills. I was so nervous as all participant have shown a good beading works. Luckily i won the third place in this competition! I am so happy and surprised at the same time. I hope this will gives me more motivation for me to go further in this field which i have venture for 10 years. :P

I would like to personaly thanks Pn Rozita, my teacher who had given me lots of beading knowledge, tips and tricks. Not to forget FTIM who provides this platform for me to test my own skills of beading works and i won! hehehe. Thanks a lot. enjoy some of the pics below.

Tools n materials u need before started

The first thing we need before we can start our beading process is to have the right tools and the right materials. In the picture below shown the tools that we need:

1) Thread - Colour of the thread need to be suitable with the beads, sequins, n cloths colour. Do not choose obvious different colour as the result may not be nice.

2)Needle - There are a few types and sizes of needles. You can use size 9, 10, 11 or 12 which comes with long and short size.

3)Erasable Pen - Use to outline your design. 2 type of erasable pen - air or water (it means it's earasable by air or by water)

4)Ram - The round wooden ram is used to keep your cloths tight and give ease for you to bead.

5)Needle Threader - Use to put your thread through needle.

6) Pensil, Tracing paper and Carbon paper - Use to design patern and trace onto cloths.

7) Cloths - The softer and smoother cloths will be harder to bead for the first timer. So you can first try onto cotton cloths. :)

Once you have all the tools you need as shown above, we have to consider what types of materials we want to use. Various of materials available and you can creatively mix and match to produce the best design and colours that suit your cloths. Some of the materials are :

1) Beads - cylinder beads (short solid, fine, medium, long, extra long), long cylinder twisted beads, round beads, small round beads - dual tone and round beaeda.

2) Sequins - Indian sequins, square sequins, flower sequins and now we can even find flower cup sequins.

3) Pearls - Round pearls, rain drop pearls, padi shepe

4) Stones

5)Crystals

Dangling beads

Dangling design is the most favourite designs among my customers, where the beads is made dangling or berjuntai usually at the middle of the neck line to almost center of the Baju Kurung. Saya menggunakan beads, pearl and stones for this type of design.

Stones + Double layer Sequins + beads + Golden thread

The design above is specially made using the golden thread (Sulaman benang emas). The price for this special design is Rm350. It will be cheaper if normal thread and less stones used - Rm250. Anyone interested can give me a call!

I would love to share some ideas, tips and tricks how to bead your clothes. It's simple once u know the basic of beading. Everybody can actually do this beading thingy, u just need to have passions and a liltle bit of creativity and off course determinations hahaha cause for some people, it's pretty leceh or tedious :P.

Well i'll tell the tips and tricks soon enough! I'm pretty tight now... I'll find my time to update this blog as frequent as i can ok!
